CFPro appoints former BDO Partner as Non Executive Director

After 32 years at BDO, Gary Hanson joins CFPro to strengthen and enhance the Board

1 July 2021: The board of CFPro is delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Hanson as a Non-Executive Director as the firm continues to grow.

Gary joins CFPro from BDO where he was Audit Partner overseeing significant growth both in the UK and internationally. He worked as BDO’s International Coordination Partner for the United States and, more recently, as Business Growth and Development Adviser in the UK. In this role he established the BDO Cambridge office, achieving significant growth in terms of numbers, services, and quality of clients, whilst building an extensive network in the global corporate community.

Further to his positions at BDO, Gary was Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee at East of England International between 2009 and 2010. Across his career, Gary has specialised in working with management teams and providing advice on all aspects of business processes, controls, and performance.

In addition to his extensive corporate experience, Gary works to share his expertise within the not-for-profit sector. Earlier this year, he accepted the role of Treasurer at the Cambridge Law Society – one of the largest student-led societies in the world – and was selected as Trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee for Founders4Schools. The charity seeks to provide greater access to the business world, tutors, and mentors for disadvantaged children and arranges inspiring, free talks given by business leaders.

Gary joins CFPro at an exciting time for the business. Over the past 12 months, CFPro has continued to grow and attract high quality clients, ranging from early-stage start-ups to existing PLCs. As the M&A and IPO boom continues in the CITY of London, CFPro’s technical accounting, corporate governance advisory and transaction support services have been much in demand.

Barbara Spurrier, Founder and CEO of CFPro, welcomed Gary to the team saying: “Gary is well known in the corporate world and City circles both nationally and internationally. His experience is extensive and impressive, working across different sectors and countries, and will be invaluable to CFPro’s support of high-growth businesses, particularly as we continue to expand the team and build out our service offering further. He joins at a very busy time for the business and we very much look forward to working with him and introducing Gary to our clients.”

Speaking about his appointment, Gary commented: “I am excited to be joining CFPro. It is a company that I know well, staffed by some of the most respected individuals in the accountancy world. The breadth of skills and resource to draw upon is compelling and for high growth businesses or those seeking an event such as M&A or IPO, the skillset at CFPro is second to none.”
